PROJECT TECHNICIAN, CAD OPERATOR (Senior Level)
Reporting to the Drafting Manager, this Calgary office based position is responsible for the development of drawings according to engineering specifications and client requirements. Provides support to the engineering design groups using CAD software programs or graphical interfaces.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare complex layouts and designs, including P&IDs, plot plans, piping plans and details, isometrics, material takeoffs and tie-in details, according to engineering specifications requiring knowledge of advanced AutoCAD programs such as CADWorx or ProCAD. Work must be approved by the Drafting Lead or their approved designate prior to submission to the engineering design group.
- Responsible for drafting quality control and interface with other disciplines.
- May provide leadership to a team of CAD operators/designers.
- Responsible for keeping up with industry updates and current software.
- Ability to assist client or junior staff in problem solving.
- Participate with special projects as available or assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Technical degree/diploma from a recognized educational institution and extensive knowledge of CAD design and systems typically with 5+ years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of industry standard drafting procedures, design guidelines and administrative practices.
- Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, ProCAD) and equipment
- Ability to prioritize and assign project requirements
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be a self-starter as well as an effective leader and team player.
