Senior Project Engineer

The individual is responsible for the full project management cycle including planning, directing, supervising and controlling the technical, financial and administrative functions of each project.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Management and execution of multiple client projects.
  2. Develop and maintain client relationships
  3. Participate in economic and technical feasibility studies for projects.
  4. Plan, develop, coordinate and review engineering requirements and responsibilities between disciplines on projects and assignments.
  5. Provide comprehensive mechanical engineering services according to project or assignment criteria.
  6. Prepare and implement specifications, cost estimations and controls, scope of equipment and materials needed, and deliverables in accordance with project requirements.
  7. Review engineering drawings and calculations.
  8. Liaise between clients, support staff and third parties in all aspects of project management.
  9. Participate in the development of OEL engineering standards and procedures.
  10. Provide management and direction to Drafting Lead and Project Administration staff.
  11. Provide management and technical guidance to a team of engineers, technologists and drafting technicians.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university, with 10-15 years relevant experience.
  2. Proficient in the review and development of process and instrumentation diagrams, equipment, piping and valve sizing and evaluations, as well as HAZOPS and general troubleshooting support.
  3. Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal codes and safety laws. 
  4. Working knowledge of engineering software programs and solutions.
  5. Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA.
  6. Mature knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
  7. Strong problem solving capability.
  8. Ability to effectively communicate with clients.
  9. Travel as required to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  10. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  11. Previous EPCM and SAGD experience would be an asset.
