Senior Project Manager

Reporting directly to the VP Engineering, this role is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team of 6 to 8 personnel, coordinating and supervising the technical, financial and administrative functions of a wide range of facility projects. This will include overseeing the scoping, preliminary & detailed design, procurement, construction management and commissioning support as required.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Manage technical personnel through the execution of multiple client projects.
  2. Plan, coordinate and review engineering requirements and responsibilities between disciplines on projects and assignments.
  3. Liaise between clients, support staff and third party consultants and contractors in all facets of project planning and execution as required.
  4. Provide comprehensive engineering services according to project or assignment criteria to achieve safe, cost-effective and efficient project outcomes.
  5. Participate in economic and technical feasibility studies for projects.
  6. Prepare and implement specifications, cost estimations and controls, scope of equipment and materials needed, and deliverables in accordance with project requirements.
  7. Oversee and review the development of P&IDs, PFDs, as well as other engineering drawings, calculations and project deliverables.
  8. Participate in the development of OEL engineering standards and procedures.
  9. Provide management and direction to drafting leads and project administration staff.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Engineering degree from an accredited university or a Technical Diploma, with 10-15 years relevant experience.
  2. Registration as a Professional Engineer, Professional Licencee, CET or RET with APEGGA, or ASET as applicable.
  3. Proficient in the review and development of process and instrumentation diagrams, equipment, piping and valve sizing, as well as HAZOPs and general troubleshooting support.
  4. Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal design codes and safety regulations.
  5. Working knowledge of engineering software programs and solutions.
  6. Mature experience in engineering work planning, risk management and control methods.
  7. Strong problem solving capability.
  8. Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with personnel and clients.
  9. Travel as required to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  10. Ability to work and adapt in a flexible, fast-paced environment;
  11. Previous comparable EPCM, specifically SAGD experience, would be an asset.
